Palais Royal Courtyard renovations completed – art and fun for adults and kids!

Le jardin du Palais Royal is many people’s favourite springtime Parisian garden. We post about it from time to time. In summer you can head there to stroll, chill, people watch, have a picnic and shop in the colonnaded arcades.

Now that the courtyard has been reopened after a major renovation, there is the added dimension of the cool black and white pods behind the columns lining the southside of the garden near Place Colette. Great fun for young kids – just a minutes walk from the Place Colette exit from Palais Royal-Musee du Louvre Metro.

Paris in the Spring – not just a cliche !

I have blogged before about enjoying the wonderful Palais Royal gardens in the summertime. Last week  – 3rd march 2011 – I strolled through them on my way to a meeting near Galerie Vivienne but I could not resist snapping a few shots of Parisians taking the spring sunshine. It was warm enough for me to be without an overcoat but of course the locals stay wrapped up outdoors until at least April!

Three ways to enjoy Le Jardin du Palais Royal in the summertime !

Sit on a bench eating your lunchtime sandwich in the shade of the rows of lime trees. Sip a perrier in a cafe beneath the 180 colonnaded arcades. Or just bask in the sun and the spray of the central lake and fountain on one of those ubiquitous metal green deck chairs.

With the wonderful weather this week, Parisians in le Jardin du Palais Royal were doing all three !!!
