My husband and I stayed here for 3 and half weeks. Position is perfect, close to ALL things, shops, monuments and the Metro. Room was small but enough for 2 adults. There is no electric dryer but a clothes airer. Towel warmer was more than enough to warm the studio, but there were two other heaters when needed. We had a problem with no hot water after a few days but this was fixed VERY quickly. All contact and arrangements made with the agent were very smooth and professional and I have no hesitation recommending SCI PA. In Australia we are used to no hidden $, the price given is the $ you pay. Not so in other countries, but with here there are not hidden charges, the price is what you pay, makes overseas travel easy to budget for. I researched for 2 years while planning our trip, do your self a favour don’t go past this company, save your self from unexpected charges, their prices are also the best I could find. Will we use them again! YES.

Please note: outside noise. This was tolerable if one shut the window to the outside street and opened the windows to the courtyard, but this allowed mosquitoes to enter. Dryer was a rack. Excellent location. Clean, adequately supplied apartment, although it needs a can opener. Attentive service, if surly, from the agent. The driver who arrived to pick us up at the airport was late, but traffic to the airport was a parking lot that day. Excellent and prompt return service to the airport when we left. All in all, we liked the apartment and felt that we were treated fairly, and would return with a can of bug spray. Yes, SCI takes the credit card number but keeps it secure and operates with integrity.

Although I’ve been to Paris many times, my stay at the apartment on rue Frédéric Sauton was my first experience with SCI PA Location, and they exceeded my expectations in every way. From the reservation process to check-out, everything was handled with professionalism and efficiency.

The apartment itself was very nice as well. The phone didn’t work when I arrived, but they sent a repair person very promptly. Everything else worked perfectly throughout my three-week stay.

As others have commented, the location is great. Being so close to the Latin Quarter does mean that there’s a bit of street noise, particularly on weekends. But the great location more than compensates for any transitory inconvenience.

I’ll definitely be staying with this agency again. Merci mille fois, Fabien!

My husband and I stayed at the apartment NOTRE09 last October. This apartment is perfect in every aspect. Perfect location, well equiped and designed. We had all we needed to feel at home. We felt like living in Paris and we promised ourselves to go back to this apt. every time we visit.
The agency is also excellent. From the very begining it was a pleasure to deal with them. The staff was extremly nice and helpfull; not to mention that the apt. was exactly what they showed and promised.
All together it was an excellent experience, and for sure we will be back.

We loved this apartment and felt as if we were truly living in Paris. We stayed there for 10 days in early May and reveled in its ideal location, so close to wonderful food shops (for morning croissants and brioche) and a farmer’s market, various Metro stops, and a quick walk over to Ile St. Louis and Ile de la Cite AND just one block away from Notre Dame. What a joy to walk out our door every morning and see this magnificent masterpiece, and to open our windows and hear its bells tolling. Like a beautiful dream. The apartment was a perfect size and nicely laid out and decorated, with great natural light and a clean contemporary feel. We had not been to Paris for 25 years, and staying here was a perfect re-introduction. We are already planning our next trip.

Myself and two others stayed at 5 rue Frederic Sauton in the Latin quarter from August 12 to the 17, 2009. The apartment was very well located and within a few blocks walking distance to the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the main restaurant and pedestrian area of the Latin Quarter. We were also close to St. Germain where there was alternate shopping. We were close to the metro and the ability to be mobile. The apartment was cute and very convenient, and we felt immersed in the culture of Paris while still being close to night life and shops and cafes. The Seine is only a block away, and I really liked staying there. If I were going to Paris again, I would stay there again without question. I have stayed in Paris in other areas previously and felt so distanced from everything. So this apartment was great and we enjoyed our stay in Paris. Marsha from California

5 rue Frederic Sauton, in which I just spent 10 days, is a delightful location in Quartier Latin.
I came to Paris alone to write and found #5 to be an ideal location for writing, shopping for vegetables, having espresso, and central for exploring Montparnasse, Montmarte, Champ de Mars, Etoile, & Bastille areas, as well as closer neighborhoods.

The double bed is firm, fine for 2 people, lighting is good, washer works well. The TV was not working, but I didn’t need it.

One suggestion to SCI PA Location would be to
have an extra key in the neighborhood, perhaps
with a local merchant. I locked myself out one
evening, after the SCI office had
closed, and had to get a hotel for the night.

Avoid the Musee Picasso: Tacky boutique with
little art.

I loved this appartment, am very keen to return to it and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. It was beautifully clean, had everything I needed for a weeks stay and had good water pressure for the shower. It is a wonderfully central location, and in fact, I have not a single negative comment!

Le Trumilou – a reliable family bistrot near Notre Dame, Ile St Louis and Hotel de Ville

Just across the Pont Louis-Philippe from Ile St Louis and not far from Notre dame and Hotel  de Ville is one of those restaurants I return to when I can’t decide where to go. You know what I mean – you know the menu inside out but you go back because you can rely on the food and the ambiance. Le Trumilou is just one of those places. It serves traditional French cuisine including their famous house speciality of canard aux pruneaux, which I have had many times. Everything is good here, particularly the steak and chips (great, great chips!) and the soup which comes out in a big dish and a ladle for you to help yourself.

The food is plentiful, tasty and not overpriced. Neither is the wine menu. The waiters are pleasant and the owner and his family are welcoming. Don’t be put off by the relatively bare corridoor bar through which he takes you to the small but cozy main dining room. There is a second dining room which is used for small groups and families. Irish friends of mine who lived in Paris for a few years regularly brought their wider family there, kids included, for special occassions.  Apparently Le Trumilou has been in business since 1930!

Pont de l’Archeveche takes over the reins from Pont des Arts – for love padlocks that is !

It used to be Pont des Arts and now nearby Pont de l’Archeveche is the latest parisian bridge to which to lock your love padlock.

The pretty metal railings of the bridge which links the left bank to Ile de la Cite just at the gardens behind Notre Dame are fast becoming crowded with padlocks which I am sure the mairie will eventually remove in the interests of safety, as they did with Pont des Arts in may 2010.

In the meantime there is still space and time for you romantics to add your lock to the hundreds who have done so before you !

We stayed at 16 rue Chanionesse for 5 nights in may, 2011. the location of the apartment is superb- within a few minutes you can find yourself in the latin quarter or alternatively marais if you turn the other way. close to st michael’s station its possible to get to any part of Paris or even go straight to Versailles for the day. in the evenings when the tourists clear out its lovely to stroll around Notre Dame and its gardens as the bells toll.
This is relatively small apartment is perfect for 2 people. throughout the day the rooms are sunny and light-filled. the bathroom and kitchen are compact but well equipped.

Liam, This was our second stay at no 16. and again we found it very suitable for what we wanted. The location could not be bettered and the accommodation was in the best of order. Myles

We just had a great few days in Paris staying in NOTRE01. Can’t really think of a better location with Notre Dame and Ile St. Louis literally on your doorstep, yet you are in a quiet and peaceful apartment. Approached through lovely old doors into a courtyard and up just one short flight of stairs the apartment is ideal for two people with all mod cons yet a very Parisien feel. Great  restaurants and little shops on Ile St. Louis and Ile de la Cite, you could easily just spend your entire trip on these islands alone.

Highly recommended, we will be back. Philip

HI Liam…we had a wonderful time in paris..both loved the apartment NOTRE01 …its  situation, its spaciousness and its lovely sense of Paris. I hope that when Ireturn that this same apartment might be available.

As always it was a pleasure to deal with Paris Apartments by Numbers and Joel was very helpful.

Many thanks, Ray

Dear Liam, We greatly enjoyed staying on rue  Chanoinesse, location is ideal – at least for our purposes - and the studio is remarkably quiet and has all the things one could need for comfort. Protected by the police next door, with a grocery open late at night under your nose, a great restaurant (Au Vieux Paris) in the same block, an historical wine cave around the corner and the best icecream in Paris just across the bridge in Ile St. Louis. Not to mention St. Germain on one side and the Marais on the other, all at walking distance.

I stayed at the Paris Apartments by Numbers apartment NOTRE01 for a few nights earlier this year, while on a business trip to Paris.  I really enjoyed my stay there for several reasons.  First of all, the location was excellent, as it meant I could walk to all the beautiful places nearby (Notre Dame, l’Ile de France, Le Marais etc.), and also get to business meetings with little hassle.  Secondly, the flat itself was ideally equipped for a single person or couple wishing to spend at least a few nights in Paris.  The apartment was very comfortable, and the building itself impressive.  Finally, the best part for me is being able to go to the local shops and buy in the wonderful food at the local delicatessens.

Enjoy your stay there !  Cliona

I stayed at the Rue Chanoinesse apartment from June 22 til July 3 2010 during a business trip. I foud the location spectacular, close to the main touristic attractions and easy to access by transit. The apartment itself is in good shape with all necessary ammenities. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at NOTRE01 for a week in July 2010. The apartment was great: very well located (really really close to the Notre Dame), quiet, clean, safe (police station right next door) and charming. It had everything we needed, space, huge windows (= a lot of beautiful light coming in), great shower, comfortable bed and fully equipped kitchen. We had a small inconvenient with the internet connection but it was quickly solved by Vesna and Liam (however, it only worked with one computer at a time). It can get a bit warm inside during the day, but the provided fan did a reasonably good job. 4 out of 5.  Their taxi partner was really professional: on time and very polite. I do recommend this apartment and Parisbynumbers!

We stayed in the flat during the last week of May. It was a perfect locale. Easy to get to EVERYTHING and very quiet. THe bed was very comfortable and had many pleasant nights sleep. All in all, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Oh, and you get to listen to the bells of Notre Dame!!!!

We stayed in the apartment over easter weekend. It proved to be a welcome retreat from the crowds around Notre Dame. Beautifully central, so we walked all the time, easy to get to all the main haunts. The apartment met all our needs. Good to have a full oven as we cooked for ourselves most of the time. A very peaceful, light and airy place, nicely done out.
The company PA Location was efficient and responsive, providing excellent orientation and introduction on arrival.

NOTRE01 was perfect for what we wanted. Very central, lots of character but clean and with all the basics needed for a week’s stay. We hope to use it and Paris Apartments by Numbers again, and thanks Liam for your help in sorting out the extra days! Myles

We stayed for 10 days in Paris at november 2009 and Chanoi 16 apartment is perfect for all. The apartment is renovated and the local is a few steps from Notre Dame. We hope to come back another times and to stay at NOTRE01.

The location of this apartment was perfect for us, on a quiet street, yet in the centre of Paris and very near Notre Dame Cathedral; (we could hear the bells). We could walk almost everywhere: the Louvre and Cluny museums, and the Marais district. Exploring the two islands, Île de la Cité and Île St. Louis, provided endless interest. At a pre-arranged arrival time, we were met by a very pleasant young woman who gave us a thorough orientation to the apartment and its amenities. The apartment itself, located just up a very short flight of stairs, was a pleasant surprise, as it had been recently renovated, was sparkling clean, and had all of the conveniences and appliances that one would hope to find in a well-equipped apartment. Three large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the small courtyard provided a light and airy feel to this compact studio apartment. We particularly appreciated the lack of street noise and privacy, nor could we hear any noise from the apartments in the same building. A small convenience store just next door at street-level supplied all of our basic needs. We would certainly like to stay here again on our next trip to Paris.

Loved it! Felt like a real “parisis”. Perfect location, quiet, safe, nice IKEA decoration. Really worth the price. The only thing missing is a view of Paris, but for that there are about one zilion places in the city.

Memorial to the Martyrs of the Deportation near Notre Dame

These are some photos I took during my recent visit (25th April 2010) to the Memorial to the 200,000 or so French people deported to the concentration camps.

The design of the Memorial reflects features of the camps; narrow passages, tight stairways, spiked gates and restricted views with no sight of the horizon.

The entrance is simply a descending stairway from a small garden on rue de l’Archeveche at the eastern end of Ile de la Cite, behind Notre Dame.

Notre Dame Gardens – a break from the tourist trail and maybe even a quick snooze !

When the going gets tough and you need respite from the crowds and din on the concrete plaza or the queue for the towers in front of Notre Dame, slip through the little gate to the right/river side of the cathedral itself and you will find yourself in a beautiful flowered garden with shady trees and benches overlooking the Seine and Ile Saint Louis.

Very few people even know it exists so it is just the place for a break from the hurly-burly of being a tourist in Paris – you could even have a little snooze !!

Batobus – a great way to move between the major Paris landmarks

I always suggest to people who have only a day or two in Paris that taking the Batobus on the Seine is the most enjoyable and efficient way to see the main sights and experience the magic of the City of Lights at night.

You can buy a day pass for about €13 and hop on and off at any of the eight stops which include Notre Dame, Hotel de Ville, Louvre, Champs Elysses, Eiffel Tower and Musee d’Orsay. The round trip is less than 1hr.30mins and you can decide at which places to spend more time. Get back on board after dark and the city takes on a whole new life from the river perspective, particularly the Eiffel Tower which sparkles for several minutes every hour, on the hour!
